The Seemen Show

When discussing fire art, Kal Spelletich comes immediately to mind - so to speak.
Founder of the SF- based Seemen,

which we understand emerged out of Mark Pauline's Survival Research Labs street performances in San Francisco.

Angle of Ambiguity

Bleeding in to the folds of your paper
I am deep in the angle of ambiguity
So many corners to hide the dimension
crinkle the view
plain paper translations
become necessary
in another time language
I can almost discern
like invisible ink messages
distorting the presence of my pen

The Good Root

This is always nice to read and remember, from Rumi....

Are you fleeing from Love because of a single humiliation?
What do you know of Love except the name?

Love has a hundred forms of pride and disdain,
and is gained by a hundred means of persuasion.

Since Love is loyal, it purchases one who is loyal:
it has no interest in a disloyal companion.

The human being resembles a tree; its root is a covenant with God:
that root must be cherished with all one’s might.

A weak covenant is a rotten root, without grace or fruit.
Though the boughs and leaves of the date palm are green,
greenness brings no benefit if the root is corrupt.

If a branch is without green leaves, yet has a good root,
a hundred leaves will put forth their hands in the end

Honouring The Impressarios

Honoring Musicians, Poets and Saints serving in our lifetime. These two lovely men have been acknowledged for the amazing talents they've share with the world. Herbie Hancock, Leonard Cohen.

Herbie Hancock, recent founder of ICAP with Wayne Shorter, gets major nods by Academy of Recording Artists - including album of the year for Rivers.

Hancock Was also Named To 'Time 100' Most Influential List

Here's an excerpt from a statement written by Herbie's long-time friends, Wayne Shorter and Joni Mitchell.

Herbie's openness makes him fearless. He plays the piano as if it's an orchestra, never saying "I can't do this" or "I won't do that." For him, the piano is a palette. And he doesn't really have a need to be understood. So when jazz pianists objected to his moving toward pop, he deflected them easily because he's just so warm. Whenever we get together with Herbie, it's always off the cuff. And something always develops: Herbie is an enthusiast, loves a great conversation and has a lot of endurance. The guy can hang.

a personal fav:
What is a saint?
A saint is someone who has achieved a remote human possibility. It is impossible to say what that possibility is. I think it has something to do with the energy of love. Contact with this energy results in the exercise of a kind of balance in the chaos of existence. A saint does not dissolve the chaos; if he did the world would have changed long ago. I do not think that a saint dissolves the chaos even for himself, for there is something arrogant and warlike in the notion of a man setting the universe in order. It is a kind of balance that is his glory. He rides the drifts like an escaped ski. His course is the caress of the hill. His track is a drawing of the snow in a moment of its particular arrangement with wind and rock. Something in him so loves the world that he gives himself to the laws of gravity and chance. Far from flying with the angels, he traces with the fidelity of a seismograph needle the state of the solid bloody landscape. His house is dangerous and finite, but he is at home in the world. He can love the shape of human beings, the fine and twisted shapes of the heart. It is good to have among us such men, such balancing monsters of love.
